Sam runs a terrific gym. He and his staff are highly knowledgeable about fitness and nutrition — and they are professional and fun as well. Sam works skillfully and creatively with individuals at varying levels of ability. He loves what he does and it shows.

I consider Sam “the Miracle Man” because, in one 30 minute observation and working session, he figured out what was causing me moderate neck pain for over a year. Two physical therapists in over a year of treatments, couldn’t figure out what was happening which, by the way, was incomplete rehabilitation from a complicated shoulder surgery several years earlier. The Functional Fitness Center is a great place to work out – fabulous and accurate equipment, lots of room, uncluttered areas, great people and nice change/shower facilities! Great people too!

Walking into Sam's Functional Fitness is energizing - fresh air coming in the doors and sunlight through the windows. It is small, invitational and not overwhelming. Everyone's always there with a smile and willingness to encourage. Sam is THE best! He has a special gift of looking at you and knowing exactly what the problems are and how to best begin to work on them. He's patient and encouraging. He has helped me do things I never thought I'd be able to do without injury - for example, lifting my husband's 100 pound power scooter into and out of the car.
After my second knee surgery and the full battery of orthopedic physical therapies, I struggled with knee pain for almost a year. When stairs became too much of an ordeal, I went to Sam. He immediately saw that my hamstrings weren’t firing and showed me some simple exercises to wake them up. Within a month my pain was gone, and my knee brace and walking sticks were history. I’m back on the trails!
I put off going to a gym for years but I love coming to Sam’s - the training is great and it feels a bit like family!

Sam Iannetta's gym Functional Fitness is Boulder's best kept secret. The staff are highly knowledgeable, friendly, fun and absolutely professional. The trainer I have been working with, Rich is amazing. He has developed a unique program specifically for me. My energy level has increased tremendously and my performance in dressage, my primary sport, has improved dramatically. I would highly recommend Functional Fitness to anyone!
